Training calendar & course schedule
All firefighters participating in any live burn training shall be NJ State Certified FF1.
This New Jersey State Certification class covers Administration, Supervision, Budgeting, Record Keeping, Legal Code Enforcement, Federal/State/Local Laws, Duties of the Fire Official, and Coordination with Construction and Fire Sub Code Official.
Class limited to first 25 students. Books required: current New Jersey Uniform Fire Code Manual and Jones & Bartlett Principles of Fire Prevention 4th Edition.
Weeknights 1900–2300hrs · Saturdays 0800–1600hrs
State Exam included. All classes start at 1900hrs. All sessions must be attended to receive credit. Class limited to the first 40 students.
Required text: Jones and Bartlett Fire Officer Principles and Practices — 4th Edition.
Final Exam: June 4, 2026
Designed for firefighters and fire officers to help them understand the dynamics of a working fire. Topics include: Fire Chemistry · Reading Smoke · Flow Paths · Rollover · Flashover · Black Fire · Water Mapping · Thermal Rebound · Vent Point Ignition · Smoke Explosions · BLEVE.

Train-the-trainer certification program.
Required books: Fire and Emergency Services Instructor — 9th Edition and its corresponding workbook (available through IFSTA).
Final Exam: June 23, 2026
Specialized HazMat command and control training. 100% attendance is required to sit for the final exam.
Final Exam: April 16, 2026
Rail safety training for first responders. Apply with the fillable Advanced Class Form.
Intermediate Incident Command System course. 100% attendance is required. Register with Advanced Class Form.
