Monmouth County Sheriff's Office — Student Internship Program
About the Program
It is the goal of our agency to provide college students seeking degrees in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, or other related majors the opportunity to experience duties of law enforcement and corrections officers and related professions within the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office has four divisions which include the Law Enforcement, Corrections, Communications, and Special Operations including our newest division, MedStar.
When Internships Are Offered
Internships are offered three times a year and consist of a rotating schedule in 10 divisions as a student intern volunteer assignment.
Divisions You'll Experience
During the course of the internship, the student will be exposed to various aspects within the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office. They will experience daily operations across all divisions — including but not limited to:
Eligibility & Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited academic institution (those enrolled in Monmouth County Post Secondary Educational Institutions will be given first priority)
- Academic institution must enter into an agreement with MCSO
- Major in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, or related field
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.2
- In junior or senior year of their respective degree program
- Submit 2 letters of recommendation from faculty members
- An updated copy of your resume with cover letter describing the area of interest and anticipated start date of the internship
- Submit a copy of valid driver's license and social security card
- No criminal history
