SHERIFF’S OFFICERS ASSIST ASBURY PARK POLICE IN APPREHENDING FUGITIVES IN POLICE PURSUIT
At approximately 10:00 PM on March 6, 2012, Sheriff’s Officers John Esposito and Scott Robinson, assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive/Warrant Unit, were in Asbury Park serving warrants when they overheard a radio transmission reporting shots fired in the area of the Mattison Avenue basketball courts. Subjects fitting the description of individuals observed in the area were reported walking towards Route 33 with Asbury Park Police in foot pursuit. The two sheriff’s officers positioned themselves ahead of the subjects and apprehended two male fugitives, turning them over to the Asbury Park Police Department. Asbury Park Police apprehended a third subject involved in the incident. Responding Asbury police officer reported that no shots were fired, but rocks were thrown at a house, breaking a window.
Arrested by Asbury Park Police Officer Stephen Love were the following: Tahron M.Bunting, Neptune, charged with Obstruction of Justice, Resisting Arrest and Possession of CDS; Donovan O. Vereen, Asbury Park, charged with Obstruction of Justice and Resisting Arrest; and Cicero Jaden Reed, Neptune, charged with Obstruction of Justice and Resisting Arrest.
“This is another instance where shared communications and interagency cooperation leads to success in the apprehension of fugitives,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden. “I commend Sheriff’s Officers Esposito and Robinson on their quick and decisive actions in assisting Asbury Park Police with these apprehensions.”
