MONMOUTH COUNTY SHERIFF ANNOUNCES PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP WITH BUSINESS COMMUNITY

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden, whose office oversees the Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), is pleased to announce a new program designed to strengthen emergency preparedness and response through public private partnerships.

As a result of ongoing efforts to evaluate how Monmouth County prepares, responds, recovers, and mitigates the impact of natural and manmade disasters and emergencies, OEM will be conducting an informational and networking program for businesses throughout Monmouth County. The initial program session is being held on Thursday August 22, 2013 at 9:00 AM and is being hosted by Encore Events Center at I-Play America in Freehold Township. The program will also help OEM understand how it too can help businesses recover from disasters.

“The re-opening of businesses is a key component to community recovery. The quicker we can re-establish normal every day functions for the residents, the faster we can recover from events like Superstorm Sandy,” said Sheriff Golden.

OEM knows that the private sector is a critical stakeholder to delivering effective and efficient resources and assets and feels as though it is essential to its overall preparedness efforts. “Through our existing partnerships, we were able to deliver critical commodities to the residents of Monmouth County in the immediate aftermath of Superstorm Sandy,” said Sheriff Golden. “Our OEM team continues to be committed to ensuring the safety and well- being of residents, businesses and visitors to Monmouth County.”

During this initial program, OEM is concentrating on the larger businesses with multiple sites within the county, such as home improvement stores, grocery stores and department stores.

“This is a prime example of the type of partnerships and relationships that we are trying to develop. We appreciate Encore Events for hosting this program,” said OEM Coordinator Mike Oppegaard.

Encore Events is located at 106 Schanck Road in Freehold Township.
