SHERIFF’S OFFICERS INVOLVED IN FOOT PURSUIT AND ARREST MAN FOR STOLEN VEHICLE

Two Monmouth County Sheriff’s Officers made a significant arrest of a man from Ocean Township during a foot pursuit in the Asbury Park area.

Sheriff’s Officers Ralph Irizzary and Manuel Rosario, both assigned to the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive/Warrant Unit, were in Asbury Park on the morning of July 30 serving warrants in the vicinity of Memorial Drive. The officers observed a motorist talking on his cell phone while driving, later identified as Richard Stridiron, 53, of Ocean Township. After spotting police, Stridiron, who was driving a gray Toyota Camry which had been reported stolen from Ocean Township, fled the scene. Stridiron exited the car by Washington Avenue and attempted to run but was apprehended after a foot pursuit by the two sheriff’s officers. Asbury Park Police also assisted in the arrest.

“This is an example of proactive police work and being attentive to details,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden. “I commend Sheriff’s Officers Irizzary and Rosario for their quick and decisive actions.”

Stridiron was charged with theft of a stolen vehicle, eluding and resisting arrest and multiple traffic violations. He is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $35,000 bail.
