SHERIFF’S OFFICE CONDUCTS WARRANTS/FUGITIVE SWEEP

A warrants/fugitive operation concluded with the apprehension of 46 people in and around the surrounding areas of Asbury Park and Neptune Township. The operation, which took place from July 18 through July 20, was led by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the US Marshals N.Y. N.J. Regional Fugitive Task Force, members of law enforcement from Asbury Park, Neptune Township and Neptune City, the FBI and New Jersey State Parole.

Of the 46 apprehensions, a total of seven individuals were arrested on criminal fugitive warrants for failure to appear on charges that included drugs, weapons, robbery and assault. The warrant/fugitive operation was held in an effort to help decrease violent crimes in Asbury Park, Neptune Township and surrounding areas.

“All of the law enforcement officers involved in the success of this operation should be commended for a job well done,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden. “They surveilled the areas and tracked down suspects. That kind of commitment and dedication will help ensure public safety in our communities.”

A total of 19 individuals were arrested for non-payment of child support. The approximate total owed by those apprehended was $489,000. The amount they were ordered to pay was solely at the discretion of the courts. Municipal court warrants were also served where 17 people were arrested.

In addition nine individuals were arrested for distribution and or possession of narcotics.

“This type of operation is vital to the areas hit hardest with violent crimes, and continues our efforts to capture and convict those responsible for these acts,” said Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
