85 ARRESTED IN MULTI AGENCY SWEEP
Eighty five people were apprehended after a four day fugitive roundup operation was conducted on October 19th through October 22nd. The operation led by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service and Asbury Park Police targeted local, county and state criminals, many who were wanted on felony charges. “The success of this operation resulted in the collaboration of law enforcement agencies from all levels working together,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden. “Those arrested were all fugitives from justice, some, were hiding out for quite some time and proved difficult to locate.”
Members of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, along with the other participating law enforcement agencies arrested those wanted for numerous offenses which included burglary, armed robbery and possession and distribution of narcotics. “I commend all of the officers involved for their dedication and commitment to this operation,” said Sheriff Golden. “Because of that effort, our communities are now safer.”
During the four day operation, marijuana, cocaine, heroin and prescription drugs were recovered. “This multi agency effort helps keep Asbury Park safe,” said Det. Capt. Anthony Salerno. “It sends a clear message that we will utilize all resources to ferret out criminals.”
Also assisting in the fugitive operation were the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Jersey State Police, the Deal Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The fugitive operation is held annually.
